Pune Ring Road Map - Summary
The total length of the proposed Ring Road is 128.66 km with a width of 110 metres. It will have 3 lanes as service roads on both sides for local traffic needs, 4 lanes of access control intercity road for through traffic on both sides and a 33.5 metre-wide Metro corridor for mass transit. Suitable space is kept for beautification and landscaping so that this Ring Road becomes a tourist destination by itself.
It is proposed to execute 46 Town Planning Schemes along the Ring Road to ensure the planned development of the areas adjoining the road. Truck terminus, developed marketplaces for agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish and meat, multi-level car parking at all major highway junctions are also proposed.
Pune Ring Road – Route and Connectivity
Pune Ring Road will be a circular, 6-lane, access-controlled highway. The maximum vehicle speed allowance on the highway will be 120 kmph. The road will drastically improve travelling circumstances across the city. In addition, it will open up new investment opportunities in over 20 real estate markets that lie along the proposed Ring Road.
Once the project is completed, it will boost the development of multiple housing hubs along the periphery with easy connectivity to the city.
Apart from this, the Ring Road project in Pune will connect six main highways that lead through the city. These include:
- NH 48, i.e., Pune-Bengaluru Highway
- NH 48, i.e., Pune-Mumbai Highway
- NH 65, i.e., Pune-Solapur Highway
- NH 60, i.e., Pune-Nashik Highway
- NH 965, i.e., Pune-Sashwad Palkhi Marg
- NH 753F, i.e., Pune-Ahmednagar Highway
The Pune district authorities proposed the development of two outer-ring roads to improve connectivity to these highways. Among the two, this project is being developed by MSRDC, whereas the PMRDA is implementing the other.
