This 340.8 km long, 6-lane wide (expandable to 8 lanes) expressway connects Lucknow to Ghazipur, passing through nine districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Despite its benefits, the Purvanchal Expressway has faced criticism and controversies related to construction irregularities and road cave-ins due to heavy rains. The project cost exceeded Rs. 22,000 crore and has been marred by accidents and damages along certain sections.
