It consists of three lines with a total length of 54.14 km (33.64 mi), of which two lines with 21.75 km (13.51 mi) are operational as of August 2023.
Operational Lines are
Line 1 (Purple Line): This line runs from PCMC to Swargate, covering a distance of 16.59 kilometers (10.31 mi) with 14 stations. It was inaugurated on 1st August 2023.
Line 2 (Aqua Line): This line runs from Onej to Ramwadi, covering a distance of 14.66 km (9.11 mi) with 16 stations. It was also inaugurated on August 1, 2023.

The Line Under Construction are
Line 3 (Orange Line): This line will run from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar, covering a distance of 23.33 kilometers (14.50 mi) with 23 stations. Its construction is being done by PMRDA and is expected to be completed by December 2023.
The Pune Metro project aims to provide fast, reliable, safe, and affordable public transportation to the citizens of Pune and its surrounding areas.
It is also aimed at reducing traffic congestion, pollution, and fuel consumption in the city. The project is being implemented by Maha Metro, a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra.
The Pune Metro system has several features, such as
- Modern and spacious coaches with air-conditioning, CCTV cameras, and automatic doors.
- Elevated and underground stations with escalators, elevators, ticket vending machines, and passenger information systems.
- Smart card and mobile app-based ticketing system for seamless travel.
- Integration with other modes of transport, such as buses, autorickshaws, taxis, and bicycles.
- Solar panels on the roofs and in the depot generate renewable energy.
