Firozabad has a dense population and is renowned for its vibrant culture and historical significance. It lies in the cultural region of Braj and was a part of the Surasena Mahajanapada during the Vedic Age.
The city was named Firozabad in the regime of Akbar by Firoz Shah Mansab Dar in 1566. Firozabad district was established on 5 February 1989 and is divided into five tehsils: Firozabad, Tundla, Shikohabad, Jasraana, and Sirasganj.
The city is situated at 27°09′N 78°25′E / 27.15°N 78.42°E and has a population of 24,98,156, as of 2011. Firozabad is a significant contributor to India’s glassmaking industry and is known for the quality of the bangles and glassware produced here.
