Heard Island and McDonald Islands (HIMI) are a group of remote, volcanic islands located in the southern Indian Sea. They are a portion of the Australian territory of Listened Island and McDonald Islands and are arranged approximately 4,000 kilometers southwest of Perth, Western Australia.
Heard Island is the biggest of the two islands, with a range of almost 368 square kilometers. It is dominated by the Huge Ben, a snow-capped well of lava that rises to a height of 2,745 meters above the ocean level. McDonald Island, on the other hand, is much smaller, with a zone of only 2.5 square kilometers, and is additionally a volcanic island.
The islands are uninhabited and are considered to be one of the most remote and untouched places on Earth.
