Barabanki District, located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, is divided into six subdivisions known as tehsils: Nawabganj, Fatehpur, Ramsanehi Ghat, Haidergarh, Ram Nagar, and Sirauli Ghauspur.

The district has a population of 3,260,699 as per the 2011 census, with a population density of 740 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Barabanki is classified as a “Minority Concentrated District in India” and serves as the administrative headquarters of the district. The district has historical significance dating back to ancient times and has been associated with various saints and ascetics.

Barabanki City, part of the Ayodhya division, has a population of 146,831 with a density of 331.00 per square kilometer. The city is about 30 km east of Lucknow, the state capital.

Barabanki was established by the British in 1856 upon their annexation of Oudh State. Originally known as Daryabad district, it was later renamed Barabanki in 1859. The area is known for its agricultural market and cotton-weaving center.

The district covers an area of 3,895.4 sq. km and has a literacy rate of 63.76%. It consists of seven sub-divisions, seven tehsils, and seventeen blocks.

Barabanki experiences an average rainfall of 1056 mm and temperatures ranging from a maximum of 45°C to a minimum of 2.5°C.
