Bhopal Development Plan 2031, on which the Madhya Pradesh capital will be developed in the future. While pointing out that the housing shortage is more acute for people belonging to low—and middle-income groups, the Bhopal DP pegs the demand at 4,62,000 dwelling units for the year 2031. It prescribes high-density and low-rise development to supply that demand. The city’s residential zones’ cover is estimated at 27,920 hectares.
To improve connectivity in Bhopal, the DP also talks about a metro rail network. The Bhopal Metro Project is designed for an operational speed of 90 kmph and comprises six lines. will be developed in three phases, and each phase will be completed in four years.
