Established in 1972, the constituency comprises 40 assembly constituencies spread across five districts: Mamit, Kolasib, Aizawl, Champhai, and Serchhip. The seat is reserved for Scheduled Tribes.
The Mizoram Lok Sabha constituency has a rich electoral history, with the Mizo National Front (MNF) being the most successful party, winning 7 out of 14 elections.
In the 2019 General Elections, C. Lalrosanga of the MNF party won with 2,23,509 votes, defeating Lalnghinglova Hmar of the IND party by a margin of 16,344 votes.
The Mizoram Legislative Assembly is the unicameral state legislature of Mizoram, with 40 members directly elected from single-seat constituencies.
The current legislature was elected in 2023 and will last until 2028. The MNF is the ruling party in the state, with Zoramthanga serving as the Chief Minister.
