The Indian State of Punjab was made in 1947 when the partition of India was part of the former Raj province of Punjab between India and Pakistan.
For the most part Muslim western part of the area became Pakistan’s Punjab Province; for the most part, the Sikh eastern part became India’s Punjab state.
This partition was the result of the Punjabi Suba movement, which agitated for the creation of a Punjabi-speaking state (the advanced state of Punjab); in the handle, a majority of Hindi-speaking state was made effectively, Haryana on 1st November 1966.
The five rivers namely Beas, Jhelum, Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej ran through pre-Independence Punjab, and are presently separated between India and Pakistan.
The presence of five rivers is the reason why Punjab’s soil is conducive to wheat cultivation, and subsequently, the state is additionally called the Wheat Bowl of India.
Punjab has continuously been landed of great holy people and warriors. Tourist places – Punjab is a place of Sikhism. The holiest of Sikh hallowed places, the Sri Harmandir Sahib (or Brilliant Sanctuary), is within the city of Amritsar.
Of the five Takhts ‘Temporal Seats of religious authority’ of Sikhism, three are in Punjab.
