The Tarsar Marsar Trek is a popular trekking route located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The trek is named after the two elevated lakes that it passes through, Tarsar Lake and Marsar Lake. The trek covers a total distance of around 46 kilometers and can be completed in 6 to 7 days, depending on the pace of the trekker.
The trek starts from the picturesque Aru valley, which is found around 12 kilometers from the town of Pahalgam. From Aru, the journey passes through dense pine and oak forests, alpine meadows, and tall height passes before coming to the perfect Tarsar Lake, which is located at an elevation of around 3,962 meters over sea level. The lake is encompassed by snow-capped peaks and offers a breathtaking view of the encompassing scene.
After spending a day at Tarsar Lake, the journey continues towards Marsar Lake, which is located at an elevation of around 3,800 meters above sea level.
