Belagavi (formerly known as Belgaum) is a district located in the state of Karnataka, India. The district is located in the northern part of Karnataka, bordering the state of Maharashtra to the north and Goa to the west. The district headquarters is in the city of Belagavi.

Topographically, the district covers a zone of 13,415 square kilometers and features a populace of roughly 48 lakh people as of the 2011 census. The district is isolated into 18 taluks and has a total of 17 towns and 1276 villages.
