The district lies between 26°47” north latitude and 72°20” east longitude, forming a part of the Kanpur Division. It is shaped like a parallelogram, with dimensions of 70 km from north to south 66 km from east to west on one side, and 24 km on the other side.

Etawah District shares borders with Kannauj and Mainpuri to the north, Agra district to the west, Auraiya to the east, and Jalaun and Bhind districts to the south, with the Chambal and Yamuna rivers marking its boundaries.

Population: As of the 2011 census, Etawah District had a population of 1,581,810 individuals with a population density of 680/km². The district experienced a population growth rate of 12.91% between 2001 and 2011.
Geographical Features: The district covers an area of 2,311 km² and has an average annual precipitation of 792 mm. It experiences temperatures ranging from a maximum of 42°C to a minimum of 3°C.
